Low Back Pain Is A Serious Problem But Can Be Alleviated Considerably With Some Exercises
Are you aware that one of the most prevalent causes for employees missing work is lower back pain? Low back ache exercise is a method to help alleviate that ache. As a supervisor I've several employees that sit at a desk for the majority of every day. At times they also have to pick up boxes of supplies that are over 25 pounds. I have noticed that doing these two tasks leads to lower back ache complaints from several of my employees. I have also experienced this pain when I am assisting in the office. I started researching just how to get rid of back pain. I decided that I would offer incentives for my workers to be involved in a low back pain exercise plan. These incentives are more cost effective than paying sick days and insurance coverage for medical appointments.
I brought on a yoga instructor to come into the office and show all my employees some simple low backache exercises that they can do at their work areas. The trainer had simple charts that showed each low back pain exercise step by step. I had one of these charts enlarged and placed it in the lunchroom area. This aids as a reminder throughout the day to complete the simple stretching and repositioning that makes up the main part of low back ache exercise. The instructor explained that the main reason employees were feeling pain in their lower back was due to going from sitting in one position to lifting, with-out stretching the muscles. By completing the simple warming techniques the muscles are not strained and they will get rid of back pain. Also the stretching exercises different muscles than are made use of for sitting for long periods of time. The yoga instructor was willing to come to the office two days a week during the lunch hour to give a low impact stretching class for people that wanted to participate. The class would take about twenty minutes. As incentive for participating I told my workers that those that participated in the low backache exercise class could leave 20 minutes earlier or come in twenty minutes later on that day.
By doing this simple incentive for completing low back pain exercise and getting rid of back pain, I've considerably reduced the number of hours my employees are out sick. My workers are also reporting that since they are completing the low back ache exercise program they have more energy at the end of the work day. Several employees take part in the low back pain exercise sessions each week. Some even do the low back pain exercise routine together on days when the instructor doesn't come in. It's a great feeling for me as a manager to know I have helped my workers feel better.
