Most of us like to just chill out after a hard day at job or a long day of handling stressful circumstances. The fact about relaxation is that we don't get virtually enough of it. A perfect relaxing situation is one in which the stressor doesn't exist - anywhere. You are not sitting down in an easy chair to mull over the events of the day. You are preferably focusing on something more interesting to recharge your batteries for future stress control.
1. Make a massage - There is nothing more soothing then permitting someone else do all the work for a change to make you happy. All you have to do is lie there, focus on soft music and let the tension in your body clear up.
2. Take an uninterrupted hot bath - This is not the moment for your partner to sneak in for a romantic rendezvous. Turn off the lights and light candles. Aromatherapy candles in pleasant scents such as chamomile and lavender will also lighten the mood. Enjoy the warm water and soothing smells. You can as well have a CD of earth sounds playing in the background (far away from the tub).
3. Practice yoga - Yoga has been performed for years as a way of boosting the mind-body connection. By focusing on your breathing and your body motions, you can learn to regulate your body responses. It takes time to master, but even that frees your mind and allows you to relax.
4. Watch a funny film - Have you ever heard that laughter is the best treatment? Well, laughter releases endorphins in your body. Your dark mood raises and you feel better - better able to cope with life and whatever was on your mind in the past.
All of these things are great but they won't help if you don't allow time to do them. Make dedication right now to carve out time every day to relax. Pen it in just like you do everything else. Pay more time than you need in case one day you require all of that time to restore balance to your body.
